1. General information
This subject provides resources for the preparation (planning, scheduling and design of activities, taking into account the teaching plan of the internship centres) and teaching of SFL classes, as well as for the writing of a report of these activities. These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following SDGs of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/): 5, 15, 16 and 17. An advanced instrumental mastery of the Spanish language is required (for non-native students, the minimum Spanish level required will be B2).
External internships are a central part of the training in the teaching of SFL. They complement the theoretical knowledge acquired in the rest of the subjects and allow to develop them in a controlled way. Practicum II makes it possible to implement and test the experience gained in Practicum I. These internships are arranged through UNIVERSA.
2. Learning results
Upon completion of the subject, the student will be able to:
-identify and categorize the various situations (different linguistic level of students, class composition, teaching objectives) faced by SFL teachers.
-project grammatical knowledge into didactic strategies for the teaching of grammar in SFL.
-plan and design SFL classes according to the linguistic knowledge level of the students.
-identify and critically assess the planning, structure and execution of an SFL class through observation.
-plan and design SFL classes according to the linguistic and cultural profile of the students.
-teach actual classes after preparing them and discussing their work with the tutor.
3. Syllabus
1. Information and analysis of the internship centre and of the assigned group to be taught.
2. Class planning and scheduling.
3. Design of activities and materials for SFL classes.
4. Teaching of the SFL subject based on planning and reasoning as well as on self-assessment and external evaluation.
4. Academic activities
-Meetings with academic and centre tutors. -Review of the schedule and contract for training activities (UNIVERSA).
-Information and study of the assigned group; review of key teacher competencies.
-Planning, scheduling and design of activities for the SFL classroom, taking into account the training plan of the centre where the internship will take place.
-Active teaching of SFL (in pairs) in collaboration with and under the supervision of the centre’s tutor.
-Writing of the mandatory final report (final arrangement of the record and commentary of all the activities carried out in the classroom).
The internship schedule will be specified at the beginning of the academic year. The calendar of the internship centres must be taken into account in addition to that of the UZ.
5. Assessment system
First call
Global assessment system (on the date established in the academic calendar):
Assessment of the works and materials used for the teaching of classes by the teacher-tutor responsible for internships in the master program (60 %). This evaluation is based on two aspects: work and materials for the teaching of classes (30 %) and internship report (30 %).
Report of the teaching of SFL classes written by the internship centre tutor (40% of the grade). In their report, the centre tutor will assess the teaching.
Second call
Global evaluation system: identical to that of the first call.
